Huge quantity of poppy husk recovered

Fatehgarh Sahib, Feb 23 (UNI) Police here rocovered huge quantity of poppy husk various persons in the district recently, SSP Dr Kaustubh Sharma said today.

He informed that police nabbed three persons identified as Jaswinder Singh , Pargat Singh, resident of Haidar Nagar, Maler Kotla in Sangrur district after recovering 210 Kg of poppy husk from their tempo.

Gurdev Singh, a resident of Saian Kalan in district Ludhiana from Sanghol was arrested after 5 kg poppy husk was seized from his possession, while Sikandar Singh of Ghawadi in distict Ludhiana was arrested after 11 Kgs poppy husk was recovered from his possession and Nachhattar Singh of same place was nabbed after vered 5 KG poppy husk was found on him.

Case under various sections of NDPS were registered against these accused.

According to the SSP Jaswinder Singh and Pargat Singh were the main smugglers who had brought the poppy husk to Punjab from outside state and were in process of selling it further.

He said police would seek their remand for further interrogation.
