Ginger Spice visits Capitol Hill as UNFPA goodwill ambassador

Washington, Feb 23 : Geri Halliwell added a dash of spice and a bit of girl power to the hallways of the Capitol in Washington D.C., when she visited with Congress as a goodwill ambassador for the UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund).

Ginger Spice flexed the goodwill muscles on Feb 21, as the Spice Girls reunion tour wound down.

She stopped by the nation's Capitol to lobby Congress for maternal health care and AIDS relief as part of her work UNFPA - something she's been a part of for the past 10 years.

"We all are mothers or have a mother, so we need to support the mothers of the world," People quoted Halliwell, as saying.

She said that as a mother herself, her work with the U.N. hits even closer to home.

"I think it resonates and authenticates it for me. Especially having a baby myself," she said.
