Conf on Communication in Mumbai on Mar 6-7

Mumbai, Feb 23: Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology A Raja will inaugurate the sixth ''International Conference on Communications Convergence'' that will be held here on March 6 and 7.

This was announced on Friday by Indian Merchants' Chamber President Niraj Bajaj. The two-day international meet of the tech-honchos, both from the public and private sector, will deliberate on issues concerning wireless communication in today's age. Over 500 representative from government, business and industry will participate in the conference, as speakers will deliberate on various policy matters and future direction of wireless communications.

Maharashtra Minister for Finance and Planning, Jayant Rao Patil, BSNL CMD Kuldeep Goyal, Videocon Industries CMD Venugopal Dhoot and other business leaders and policy makers are likely to be some of the prominent speakers at the conference.

Stating that the pro-active policies of the government had resulted in an unprecedented growth in the telecom sector in the last few years, Mr Bajaj said that with the tele-density of 23 per cent telecom services have a huge growth potential in the country.

Union Minister of State for Industry Ashwini Kumar will be the chief guest and keynote speaker for the special session ''Telecom Revolution: Powering the Indian Economy'' on March 7, Mr Bajaj added.
