Three day principal conference to held from March 14

Udupi, Feb 22 (UNI) More than 300 Principals from different colleges from all over country are expected to participate in the three-day 15th annual conference of Principals of Colleges which will be held here from March 14 to 16.

For the second time, the conference is being held in Karnataka and being hosted by Poornaprajna College.

Dignitaries from Department of Science and Technology (DST) would take part in the conference with the theme, "Education, Economy and Sustainable Development: International Year of Planet Earth", President of Indian Colleges Forum (ICF) G D Sharma said here today.

Addressing a press conference here, he said issues such as globalisation, knowledge economy and education linkage with development and PPP for educational development would be discussed.

He said that ICF established in 1992 by the Society for Education and Economic Development (SEED) had today the membership strength of over 500 colleges.

The union government which had given more stress on college education and higher education had increased the investment by nine times in the Eleventh five year plan, Prof. Sharma said.

Students community needed to be educated on energy conservation through efficient waste management, water harvesting in collaboration with DST through developing scientific models for preventing global warming, he added.
