Opposition jointly condemns high-handedness to farmers in Fatehpur

Lucknow, Feb 22 (UNI) After Uttar Pradesh main opposition Samajwadi Party (SP), the Congress and other major political players have also swung into action against the alleged police high-handedness to farmers in Fatehpur on Wednessday.

Dennouncing the police action over the agitationg farmers, the Congress has decided to send its probe team to Fatehpur on February 24.

SP team, under the leadership of MLC Ahmad Hassan had already left for the site today.

Meanwhile, UP Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi today criticised the act, saying, '' farmers were peacefully demonstrating in favour of their demands, using police force on them is highly condemnable.'' Ms Joshi had demanded stringent action against the guilty officials.

Former MLA Bhudhar Narayan Mishra and Hafiz Mohammad Umar are the part of the team, she said.

Condemning the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Ramapati Ram Tripathi demanded immediate action against the officials.

At least 30 farmers were arrested yesterday in Fatehpur for the same.
