One killed, five injured in road mishap

Jalandhar, Feb 22 (UNI) At least one person was killed and five others, including three women and two children, were injured in a road mishap near village Kahanpur in the district on the Jalandhar-Pathankot Highway today.

Police said the mishap took place when a truck coming at a high speed hit the tempo from behind.

Driver of the tempo, identified as Jaswant Singh died on the spot, while injured women and children were immediately rushed to the nearby private hospital, where condition of one of the women was stated to be serious.

Meanwhile, police registered a case against the truck driver, who fled from the site after the accident and impounded the vehicle.
