Kidney kingpin Amit Kumar in judicial remand till March 7
Ambala, Feb 22 (UNI) Kidney racket kingpin Dr Amit Kumar was sent in judicial remand till March 7 by special CBI duty magistrate Sunita Grover here today.
Dr Amit Kumar was produced in the court under tight security jby the CBI which ordered his judicial remand after hearing arguments from the counsel of both sides.
CBI counsels A K Singh and D S Chawla stated that the CBI had completed the acused's interrogation during his remand granted by the special CBI court at Delhi.
No further CBI remand was required under the present circumstances, they said.
Pradeep Batra, counsel for Dr Amit, also pleaded that no further CBI remand was needed since he had already been interrogated during the remand sought by the CBI earlier.
After listening to both sides, the Special CBI Magistrate sent Dr Amit Kumar to judicial custody for 14 days.
The police had deploying personnel in the court complex where the district administration had already imposed Section 144 to restrain the gathering of more than five people.
