Jodha-Akbar screening suspended in MP
Bhopal, Feb 22 (UNI) Taking a cue from BJP-ruled Rajasthan, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government in Madhya Pradesh has suspended screening of Ashutosh Govarikar-directed controversial Hindi film 'Jodha-Akbar' in cinema halls across the state.
The state government's Commercial Tax department issued the order in this regard today.
The ban was imposed in view of opposition to its screening and apprehension of breach of peace, official sources said.
Few cinemas in the state capital and other places in the state were screening the film since its release last week.
The film based on the life of Mughal ruler Akbar and his Hindu wife was banned in Rajasthan following protests of Rajput organisations alleging distortion of historical facts.
