HM assures convening MLAs meet on pubs issue
Hyderabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today assured the Assembly of convening a meeting of legislators to seek suggestions for curbing obscene dances in clubs and pubs in the state.
The Minister gave the assurance during the Question Hour after members cutting across partylines complained about obscene dances being held in clubs and pubs on the pretext of weekend parties, despite the High Court ban.
Earlier, replying to Congress member D Manikya Varaprasada Rao, Mr Reddy said three cases were registered during 2005 in Cyberabad.
In Hyderabad, three cases were registered in 2006 and two cases last year.
Registeration of bars and pubs was with the excise and municipal authorities. Licensing was made compulsory by the police, who was also regulating the timing of bars. Patrolling during closure timing of bars had been intensified, he added.
