Haryana spends Rs 3 crore to boost agro-mechanisation

Chandigarh, Feb 22 (UNI) Haryana Agriculture Department has provided a subsidy of Rs 3 crore for the promotion of agricultural mechanisation and use of latest farm machinery among the farmers of the state during the current financial year so far.

A spokesman of the Agriculture Department said here today that mechanisation scheme was helping the farmers in reducing the cost of cultivation, increase productivity and production of food grains, judicious use of fertilizer, removes drudgery of labour and improves the financial status of the farmers.

He said that the Department had been providing 25 per cent subsidy to the farmers for purchasing machineries like Zero-till seed-cum-fertilizer drill, Rotavator, Bed Planter , Potato Planter, Potato Digger, Power Weeder, Ridger Seeder, Straw Reaper , Power Tiller, Tractor mounted Sprayer and Cotton Seed Drill.

He said that Haryana was at number one in the adoption of zero tillage technology and during the year 2006-07, an area of 15 lakh acres had been covered with the help of zero-till seed-cum-fertilizer drill machine.

He said that an amount of Rs.275.96 lakh and Rs.552.08 lakh had been disbursed as subsidy to the farmers on the purchase of various agricultural implements during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 respectively.
