Govt 'may' revise package for land donors for Vallarpadam works
Kochi, Feb 22 (UNI) Kerala Revenue Minister K P Rajendran today said the government would consider the demand to revise the package announced for people, whose land had been acquired for the rail-road connectivity for the Vallarpadam project in the next Cabinet meeting.
Speaking at the all-party meeting held to discuss issues relating to acquisition of land for the project, Mr Rajendran said ''the government was trying to acquire land and rehabilitate people simultaneously to avoid distress for the people.'' State Fisheries Minister S Sarma, who was also present for the meeting, said the government would press the Centre to provide job for a member of the family, whose land was acquired for the project.
The Ministers, part of the cabinet sub-committee formed to sort out problems relating to the project, would be meeting MLAs concerned on February 25.
Parliamentarian K Chandran Pillai, MLAs K V Thomas, M K Purushothaman, K Babu, M A Yousuf, Chief Secretary P J Thomas, District Collector Mohammed Hanish and representatives of CPI-M, CPI, NCP, BJP, Kerala Congress (B), Kerala Congress (Secular), JSS, Muslim League and RSP participated in the meeting.
