Governor summons Legislative Assembly to meet on March 24
Panaji, Feb 22 (UNI) Governor S C Jamir today summoned the Goa Legislative Assembly to meet here on March 24.
It is likely to be a 5-day session with Finance minister Dayanand Narvekar presenting the vote-on-account budget for the year 2008-09 on the very first day itself followed by discussion before passing the budget, informed sources said.
The session is likely to be tempestuous with political instability dogging the 8-month old Congress-led coalition government headed by Digambar Kamat.
The House was abruptly adjourned sine die last month following instability with the resignation of some coalition partners.
The much critised role of the police in the wake of the unattached Teleigao legislator Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate and his followers allegedly attacking the Panjai police station and resorting to vandalism and arson on February 19 night was also likely to trigger sparks in the House.
