Ghisingh flees Pintail, arrives in Kolkata
Kolkata/Siliguri, Feb 22 (UNI) Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) chief Subash Ghisingh, facing an unprecedented opposition from his erstwhile supporters in Darjeeling, arrived here this afternoon by flight from Bagdogra.
Mr Ghisingh, a caretaker administrator of Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC), was staying in the Pintail village guest house near Siliguri after being refused to enter his hometown Darjeeling since his return from New Delhi on Monday.
He was in Delhi for talks on the 6th Schedule status for Darjeeling Hills, which his rival party Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) opposed tooth and nail with a demand for a separate Gorkha state in the hills of Darjeeling.
Mr Ghisingh, who refused to talk to reporters in Kolkata airport, is likely to meet Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Chief Secretary Amit Kiran Deb and Home Secretary Prasad Ranjan Roy later today, intelligence soruces in Siliguri said.
The beleaguered Gorkha leader might also fly to New Delhi in a day or two, they added.
