Firemen battle major blaze in chemical godown
Chennai, Feb 22 (UNI) A major fire broke out in a chemical godown in the Parrys Area of the city late last night as Fire Services Personnel controlled the blaze using 25 fire fighting units and an equal number of Metrowater tankers bringing it under control only at 0600 hrs.
Police and Fire Services sources said the godown located on the Nainiappan Naicken Street stored raw materials.
The loss was estimated at Rs 17 lakh. However, there were no immediate reports of any casualties. The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, the sources said.
