BJP to discuss Bundelkhand issue: Chouhan

Bhopal, Feb 22 (UNI) The separate Bundelkhand state issue will be discussed at the political forum of Bharatiya Janata Party, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said today.

''Though I did not personally subscribe to the separate state demand, it will be discussed at the political forum of BJP'', Mr Chouhan said at the Central Press Club's meet-the-press programme here.

Commenting on the demand for formation of separate Bundelkhand state and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's support to it, Mr Chouhan admitted that Bundelkhand remained the most backward region and the state government had initiated various steps for development, including setting up of a medical college at Sagar.

''The state government was committed for development of the region'', he added.

The Chief Minister said Bundelkhand region was facing severe drought due to scarce rains.
