BJP condemns inaction of Assam police against robbers
New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The BJP today strongly condemned the inaction of the Assam police in dealing with the 32 Manipuri women who were to attend yesterday's BJP Mahila Morcha rally demanding 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and state Legislatures.
BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the 32 women travelling from Imphal to Guwahati in a private bus were attacked and looted of their belongings including cash and mobiles in Nellie, an area dominated by Bangladeshi infiltrators in Assam at 0330 hrs on February 18. Two of the men accompanying the women were beaten up by the robbers.
The police even refused to file an FIR. We strongly condemn the inaction of the Congress ruled Assam state to the plight of helpless group of women folk, he said.
