Arghyam launches Kannada water portal

Bangalore, Feb 22(UNI) Arghyam, a non-government organisation, today launched its Kannada website on the lines of India Water Portal, a platform for sharing water quality management among general public.

Arghyam Chairperson Rohini Nilkeni told reporters here today that the water portal was a partnership based collaborative website and is supported by Arghyam, the city-based organisation working on water issues.

India Water Portal, which was opened last year by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was primarily focussed on sharing knowledge about water related issues and offering solutions for the general public.

She said there was a need for dissemination of water related information among citizens and to make them aware of various developements that led to the creation of the Kannada website.

"The Kannada website is the first step and more such regional websites will follow, so that we can reach out to the public at large without a language barriers," she added.
