Admn to build houses for tsunami affected
Karaikal, Feb 22 (UNI) The Puducherry administration would construct houses for all the tsunami affected people in Karaikal region of the Union Territory, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said.
Addressing a function to inaugurate six school buildings and six community centres, constructed with the financial assistance from the Rajiv Gandhi National Relief Fund and Welfare Trust here today, Mr Rangasamy said out of the proposed 3,547 houses, 2,820 were already constructed, 400 were nearing completion and another 600 would be completed before the end of April.
The planning commission sanctioned Rs 45 crore for tsunami relief this year and steps were being taken to get Rs 260 crore from the World Bank, he added.
AICC Treasurer and Rajiv Gandhi Trust, Trustee, Motilal Vora handed over the keys of the schools and community centres to Puducherry Lt Governor Mukut Mithi.
