AAEU strike to disrupt air traffic in India
Kolkata, Feb 22 (UNI) As many as 14,000 non-executive workers under the Airport Authority Employees Union (AAEU) will go on an indefinite strike from February 26 to protest the non-settlement of pending demands and closing down of ''profit making'' airports.
The strike would affect the aviation traffic in the country very badly.
AAEU's local secretary Dipankar Ghosh today told UNI that all the non-executives (operational and non-operational including safety services) across the country would 'remain off the job' with effect from Tuesday.
The strike has been called to press the authorites for settlement of long pending demands and arbitrary decision of closing down Hyderabad and Bangalore airports in view of opeing New Greenfield airports at Shamsabad (Hyderabad) and Devanhalli (Banalgalore).
Mr Ghosh said they had already informed the airport authorities about the impending strike starting from Tuesday.
