All hopes on ex-members to revive Cong's 'golden era'
Lucknow, Feb 21 (UNI) Against the backdrop of the debacle in the last Uttar Pradesh assembly poll, the Congress is leaving no stone unturned to defeat its rivals in the Lok Sabha elections with the entry of former veteran party leaders and freedom fighters.
UP Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi has constituted a five-member committee, under the leadership of former minister Ram Krishna Dwivedi, which is aimed at inspiring ex-Congress leaders to become active members of the party, sources said.
The committee also plans to include freedom fighters, their families, MLAs and MLCs' who served jail term during 1977-80 'Congress Andolan'.
Ms Joshi has asked the committee to make a list of the former members and others at the earliest, sources added.
Other committee members are former ministers Kranti Kumar, Dr Ammar Rijvi, Raj Bahadur and ex-MP Khan Guffran Zahidi.
