Crack on track delays trains
Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, Feb 20 (UNI) Train services between Chennai and southern districts of Tamil Nadu were affected for over three hours after a crack was detected on the track between Virudhunagar and Kallikudi here today.
Railway sources said the railway personnel noticed the crack, after Ananthapuri Express, Muthunagar Express, Kanyakumari Express and Nellai Express passed the track.
On receiving information about the crack, Howrah Express, Mysore Express and Tenkasi Passenger were halted before Kallikudi.
The traffic was restored after repairing the tracks, the sources added.
Similarly, another crack was detected on the track between Kodai Road and Vadipatti sections in Dindigul district, prompting the railway authorities to suspend train operations for a couple of hours.
