CPI(M) congratulates people Pakistan 'verdict'
New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) The CPI(M) today said the 'verdict of people' in the Pakistan's National Assembly election indicated rejection of authoritarian military rule and reaffirmation of people's faith in parliamentary democracy.
The polit bureau in a press statement issued here congratulated the people of Pakistan for giving their 'verdict' and said it was against region-based parties and sectarian politics.
It said the formation of a coalition government based on the popular mandate would augur well for the transition to a full-fledged democratic system. It would also provide an appropriate setting for the continuance of the India-Pakistan dialogue and steps to improve ties between the two countries, the release added.
