Proposal to amend Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets Act approved
Chandigarh, Feb 19 (UNI) The Haryana Cabinet here today approved the prosposal of the Agriculture Department to table the amendments made in the Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets Act, 1961 in the ensuing Session of Vidhan Sabha.
The approval was granted at its meeting presided by Chief Minister Bhupinder singh Hooda.
According to the amendment, the provision relating to prosecution of dealers has been replaced by penalty provisions upto Rs 10,000 in case of contravention of the provisions of the Act and Rules.
In case of evasion of fees, penalty ranging from 50 to 100 per cent of the fee evaded has been provided for. Also, a provision has been made for charging interest on outstanding dues. The provision relating to appeal, revision and review have been restructured and rationalized.
Earlier, the Cabinet had given its approval on November 29, 2007 to issue an Ordinance but now it would be replaced by Bill to be brought in the ensuing Vidhan Sabha Session.
