Kate Winslet's red dress sold for 20,000

London, Feb 19 : A dress designed for Kate Winslet has been sold at an auction for 20,000 pounds.

The 'Titanic' star sold the Vivienne Westwood creation in an effort to raise funds for Cardboard Citizens, the UK's only homeless people's professional theatre company.

The 32-year-old, who is an ambassador for the charity, auctioned the outfit, described as a 'beautifully flowing deep red number,' at the end of the charity evening at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in London's Knightsbridge.

"I am delighted that the proceeds from the auction of the dress will make such a useful contribution to the wonderful work of Cardboard Citizens with homeless people in London," The Daily Snack quoted Winslet, as saying.

"Vivienne Westwood created the dress especially for me for this occasion and it is a really beautiful piece.

"I hope that the winning bidder enjoys wearing it as much as I did," she added.

The charity held on Feb 15 raised a total of 150,000 pounds.
