3 killed, 30 injured as fireworks explode
Kochi, Feb 18 (UNI) Three people were killed on the spot and 30 seriously injured when fireworks fell and exploded on a crowd at Maradu Bhagavathy temple here tonight.
District Collector A P M Mohammed Hanish told UNI that the incident occurred during the fireworks organised as part of the six-day-long annual temple festival.
He said the victims were watching the fireworks.
The injured had been admitted to Lakeshore Hospital and Medical Trust in the city.
Following the incident, the Collector ordered cancellation of the fireworks and directed the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
