The ball is in the govt's court now : Justice Sachar

New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) The ball is in the government's court now, Justice Rajinder Sachar said today regarding the implementation of the Sachar Committee's report.

''We have completed our job and it is now up to the government to see that the recommendations made by the committee should be duly implemented,'' said Justice Sachar, who headed the committee formed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to assess the economic and educational status of the Muslims.

He asserted that the public must share equal responsibility for the implementation of the reports and schemes meant for its welfare.

''It is equally true of all the schemes and initiatives for the welfare of the masses,'' he said while speaking at a seminar organised to discuss the implementation of Sachar Committee report co-ordinated by a local Urdu daily.

He rejected the notion that the Sachar Committee was formed exclusively for the Muslims. ''We made a comparative study, including in our assessment all other minorities and the majority community as well.'' Justice Sachar said it was the responsibility of everyone to ensure that all measures for public good be effectively implemented.
