India watching situation in Kosovo
New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) India today said it was watching the developments in Kosovo which declared independence from Serbia yesterday.
''We are watching the developments. The situation is still evolving,'' an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said here in response to a question.
Kosovo, the autonomous region of Serbia, declared independence yesterday, a move supported by the US and the European Union.
However, it was criticised by Russia and Serbia which demanded that the UN Security Council have a special session to discuss the matter.
The independence, spurred by the region's majority ethnic Albanians, came after the US and NATO began airstrikes against Serbian military targets in the former Yugoslavia.
