Farmer, children die after consuming omelet
Balaghat, MP, Feb 18 (UNI) A farmer and his two children have died under suspicious circumstances after consuming omelet in this district, police said today.
Sohagpur-resident Leeladhar Lodhi had gone along with his two children to Lanji tahsil headquarters where all of them had omelet from a shop in the market yesterday. Their health deteriorated while returning to village in a bus.
Mamta (10) and Manju (5) died while being taken to Lanji.
Leeladhar (35) was admitted to hospital in Lanji. He was later referred to the district hospital where he succumbed this morning.
Lanji Station House Officer (SHO) R K Dubey said prima facie the case appeared to be that of suicide. However, investigation was being carried out to ascertain whether the omelet was contaminated.
The situation would be clear after post-mortem.
Leeladhar's father Deshlal denied that his son committed suicide along with his children. He said there was no reason for suicide.
In a statement, SP legislator Kishor Samirte alleged that Leeladhar committed suicide as he was reeling under debt of Rs 50,000.
