Kochi, Feb 18: The Kerala Government today submitted before the High Court that a decision on the controversial HMT land deal will be taken this week itself.

Advocate General C P Sudhakar Prasad made this submission to a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dutta and Mr Justice K M Joseph following which the High Court adjourned the matter to February 28. While hearing a plea by Gokul Prasad seeking judicial inquiry into the deal, the court also issued notices to the State Chief Secretary and other respondents to file affidavits by February 25.

The allegation was HMT sold the land to Blue Star Realtors in violation of the clauses in the agreement reached between the PSU and the State Government.

After the land deal became a controversy, the State Government constituted a high-level committee to review the sale of 70 acre of land by HMT to a private company for constructing a cyber city here.

After the report, the government had sought the AG's opinion regarding the deal.
