AIMIM, CPI(M) stage walkout on ''injustice'' to Muslims
Hyderabad, Feb 18 (UNI) Members of the All India Majilis-E-Itihadul Muslimeen and Communist Party of India(Marxist) today staged a walkout in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in protest against inadequate share for Muslims in the four-phase programme for distribution of surplus land by the Congress Government.
Dissatisified with state Revenue Minister D Prasada Rao's reply during question hour that land would be given on priority basis to Muslims along with people of other weaker sections of the society, AIMIM Floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi claimed that in as many as nine districts, the Muslims were not given even a single piece of land, before leading his members out.
CPI(M) Floor leader N Narasimaiah led his members out after alleging that not even one per cent of the Muslims in the state were provided land.
The Government had only regularised those who already possessed land by giving title rights.
CPI member Nasser Vali and TDP member Ch Rajeswara Rao also registered their protest against ''injustice to Muslims''.
Earlier, the minister, replying to Mr Owaisi and other AIMIM members, said 8871.21 acres of land was distributed to 5634 Muslim beneficiaries.
