63 women rescued from trafficking: Minister
Hyderabad, Feb 18: Andhra Pradesh Women Development, Child Welfare and Disabled Welfare Minister N Rajyalaxmi today said 63 women were rescued and 44 traffickers arrested in recent raids at Pune and New Delhi.
Replying to a question by P Subba Reddy in the Legislative Council, Ms Rajyalaxmi said the State CID officials had conducted anti-trafficking rescue operations with their counterparts at Pune and Delhi and rescued the victims.
She said 12 minors hailing from other states, rescued in the operation, were handed over to the local police. They were accommodated at various rescue homes in the state for rehabilitation and reintegration.
The government was taking steps to curb trafficking in women by providing employment opportunities to poor women.
