London, Feb 17 : The Rolling Stones have warned younger pop idols to stay away from drugs, because of the health risks involved in taking them.

The band's frontman Sir Mick Jagger said that in their times very little was known about drugs and no rehabs were present to help oneself get out of the addiction.

"When we were experimenting with drugs, little was known about the effects. In our time, there were no rehab centres. Anyway, I did not know about them," Times Online quoted him, as saying.

The 64-year-old singer achieved international notoriety when he was briefly jailed in 1967 for possessing drugs, but he is better known now for his devotion to fitness.

The band guitarist Keith Richards warned that if British singer Amy Winehouse does not give up drugs she could end up looking as wrinkly and wasted as him.

"She should get her act together," said Richards.
