IB minister accuses left of distorting facts

Agartala, Feb 17 (UNI) Information and Broadcasting minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi today alleged that the ruling Left Front in Tripura has distorted the facts and was misguiding the people.

Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Dasmunsi accused the state government of providing wrong informations on the state's development to the people.

''They are trying to convince the voters that the development works in the state were done by them. But the true fact is all the projects and funds were sanctioned by the UPA government,'' he stated.

The sub-division level colleges and block level ITI, road, air and railway connectivity, tele-density and assurance of 100 days work were all executed under the announcement of national common minimum programme of the UPA, he reiterated.

He flayed the Left government in referring the report of 11th finance Commission that the state's socio-economic growth was found only 74.9 per cent despite a stable government and Central support while it was 82.1 per cent in Mizoram, 75.4 per cent in Manipur and 76.1 per cent in Nagaland.

Mr Dasmunsi pointed out that poverty in the state has increased about 12 folds in past five years while the growth of unemployment was recorded at an average of 22.5 per cent.

He said the UPA government had not reduced the amount of rice under Antodoy and Annapurna schemes for Tripura rather prioritised Northeastern region in the planning commission's proposal.

''I demand that the state government should release the report to both the NDA and UPA governments and what they got from both the regimes before February 21 next,'' Mr Dasmunsi underlined and added that state government was failed to attract the investors in Assam, and Sikkim.
