Animated film on freedom fighter to be released

Chennai, Feb 17 (UNI) An animated documentary film, depicting the life history of freedom fighter Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar, will be released during the first week of next month to commemorate his 100th anniversary.

The 75-minute film, with advanced 3D technology and animation, has been made by Papilon Communications after carrying out a meticulous research on his life.

Titled 'Pasumpon Thevar Varalaaru' (history of Pasumpon Thevar), the documentary narrates the story of Thevar, who worked for the poor and downtrodden people.

Mr M P Abraham Lincoln, who has directed the documentary film, said it would be screened in about 40 theatres across Tamil Nadu and would be officially launched next month in Chennai and Madurai.

''The documentary is being made in four languages -- Tamil, Hindi, Bengali and English -- and will be screened in theatres across India in a phased manner,'' he told UNI.

''Talks are in the final stages for its launch in theatres in Malaysia,'' he said and added the Tamil version of the film was already completed. ''The dubbing process is on in other languages and it will be completed soon,'' Mr Lincoln added.

''We have invested about Rs 50 lakh in this venture and took about four months to complete the film,'' he added.
