Congress denies reports of leaders influencing police
Bangalore, Feb 16 (UNI) Congress in Karnataka today dismissed media reports that its leaders were putting pressure on police officials for not ''harassing'' the youth, who were recently arrested for their alleged link with terror networks.
In a statement here, KPCC General Secretary and party spokesperson V S Ugrappa said the reports were ''mischievous'' and ''unfounded''. The party steadfastly stood against terrorism. It believed in national integrity and never compromised with the nation's security, he said.
Reports, appeared in a section of the media, had stated that the Congress leaders had been pressurising the police officials not to ''harass'' the youth arrested in Davanagere, Hubli and Gulbarga as it might send a ''wrong signal'' and affect the party's 'vote bank'.
