Armed Naxalites attack police stations,loot armory
Bhubaneswar, Feb 15 (UNI) In a daring operation armed Naxalites tonight attacked police stations at Nayagarh and Daspalla, looted arms and ammunition from District armory and the Police Training School.
Report reaching here said a large number of Naxalites armed with sophisticated weapons attacked the Nayagarh police station, about 135 kms from here and then raided the Nayagarh Police Training School and the District armory.
Later they attacked the Daspalla police station and set it on fire before looting the arms and ammunition from the police station.
Additional police reinforcements rushed to Nayagarh district from the neighbouring area and heavy exchange of firing between the police and Naxalites continuing in the area, a senior police official said.
All exit points to Nayagarh district had been sealed by the police after the incident. Details were awaited.
It was not immediately known how many weapons were looted or any casualty in the attacks.
