SP demands CBI inquiry into minister's death

Bhopal, Feb 15 (UNI) Suspecting a conspiracy behind the death of Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Lakshman Singh Gaud in a road accident, the Samajwadi Party has demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.

In a statement issued here today, state SP President Narayan Tripathi said Mr Gaud had revealed information about a Rs 15 crore scam recently.

He probably had evidence related to a few other scams involving the names of top politicians.

Mr Tripathi said it could not be denied that Mr Gaud was ''removed from the way'' as a part of conspiracy to avoid names from being exposed.

''Mr Gaud sitting in a private vehicle before the accident, Station House Officers (SHOs) not being informed about his departure and removing of follow guard from his cavalcade smacked of a conspiracy,'' he said.

Mr Gaud was returning from Indore to Bhopal on the night of February 11 when his vehicle was hit by another vehicle from behind.

Mr Gaud was killed in the accident.
