Radisson hotel to come up in Zirakpur

Chandigarh, Feb 15 (UNI) Carlson Hotels Worldwide Asia Pacific today announced plans for a Radisson hotel in Zirakpur near here.

As part of Carlson's continuing expansion across India, an agreement has been signed with ECC Infrastructure Pvt Ltd to open the 125-room Radisson Hotel Zirakpur by March 2009.

Mr Martin Rinck, President and Managing Director, Carlson Hotels Worldwide-Asia Pacific, today said, ''We have been targeting prominent economic and commercial centres of the country to ensure consistent expansion of our portfolio in India.'' ''Zirakpur, which is conveniently located on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway, is poised to become a popular business destination with the Central government clearing the proposal for setting up an international airport at Mohali, which is a part of tricity,'' he said.

The property's strategic location will serve the growing meeting and business segment of the market, Mr Martin added.

Carlson Hotel Worldwide-Asia Pacific currently manages 26 hotels in India, under the Radisson, Park Plaza, Country Inns and Suites By Carlson, and Park Inn brands, with another 31 hotels under development.

Carlson Hotels Worldwide, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, includes five hotel brands: Regent Hotels and Resorts, Radisson Hotels and Resorts, Park Plaza Hotels and Resorts, Country Inns and Suites By CarlsonSM and Park Inn.
