Congress to give befitting reply to EC notice on Sonia
New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) Describing the notice served by the Election Commission on Congress President Sonia Gandhi as 'frivolous', the Congress party said tonight that it would give a ''strong and befitting'' reply to it.
''The complaint is baseless, motivated and tantamounts to a joke,'' AICC spokesman Abhishek Manu Sighvi told UNI.
The Commission earlier in the day had served notice on Mrs Gandhi on a disqualification complaint filed by an advocate for having accepted a Belgian honour.
Dr Singhvi said any adjudicating authority must weed out the shaft from the grain, relevant from the frivolous and substance from falsehood.
''Every complaint should not necessarily lead to a notice,'' Dr Singhvi quipped.
