Mumbai, Feb 13: Police threw a security blanket in the commercial capital of the country and other parts of the state, where sporadic incidents of violence were reported last night.

Additional forces of Rapid Action Force were called in the city to maintain the law and order situation, following continued incidents of stone pelting across the city for the last ten days by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists, targeting North Indians, police said.

Director General of Police (DGP) Dr P S Pasricha yesterday confirmed that they have sought additional force from the Home Ministry to maintain the law and order situation in the state. He declined to disclose the figure, stating that it was part of their strategy.

Security outside Vikroli court in the eastern suburbs of the city has been tightened due to the possibility of arrest of MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
