Kerala to set up institute for disaster management
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 13 (UNI) Kerala will set up a Civil Defence Training Institute (CDTI) for imparting training in disaster management, state Revenue Minister K P Rajendran said.
According to a release, the Minister, inaugurating the state-level Disaster Management Programme here yesterday, said the government would present its Disaster Management Policy in the next Assembly session.
He said each district would have a separate disaster management policy, depending on their need.
The government would open control rooms in all district headquarters to provide details about natural calamities and rescue operations in time.
Stating that the state would recieve Rs 2.5 crore in the first phase in this regard, he said the government would involve Yuvakarma Sena, constituted by Youth Welfare Board, in disaster management activities.
