Haryana to revamp higher education to meet global standard

Chandigarh, Feb 13 (UNI) A meeting under chairmanship of Harynan Governor Dr A R Kidwai here today resolved to create world standard higher education system in the state, with that most of the reforms to be implemented as early as from the next academic session.

The meeting held to discuss the complete revamping of the higher education system in the state, decided to promptly implement steps like compulsory teaching of computers to all students in universities and colleges, increase in seats, specially in job-oriented courses and improvement in the quality of education.

It was decided that the Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra would prepare computer courses for six months for various classes and the State and Central Government would be requested to provide infrastructural support for this purpose.

Great stress was laid on improving the quality of education. It was decided that all the universities would constitute expert committees for introduction of semester system, project-based learning, inter-disciplinary learning and studying of multiple courses among others.

It was also agreed that the number of seats at undergraduate as well as postgraduate levels in the colleges and universities should be increased especially in job-oriented courses.
