Bijli Nigam releases over 10,000 tubewell connections

Chandigarh, Feb 13 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has achieved a new record of releasing 10,898 new tubewell connections to the applicants upto January during the current financial year.

The Nigam had released the maximum 8343 tubewell connections during the financial year 2003-04.

Giving details, a spokesman said here today that simultaneously, the Nigam also released 586 new connections to the public water works upto January during this fiscal as compared to 472 compared to the corresponding period of the last year. The Nigam has also initiated the process of releasing 96 more connections for drinking water purpose in the villages and the work on 30 new connections is likely to be completed by the end of this month.

He further stated that the Nigam would release new connections to those applicants by giving top priority to those who had deposited the full amount. It has been analyzed that the Nigam will have to install 7823 new distribution transformers for releasing connections to such applicants.

In 901 other cases connections will be released by installing new cement poles and erecting new low tension lines.

He said, the work shall be completed on turn-key-basis for early release of connections to the applicants and to avoid inconvenience.
