Police fire in the air to quell violent mob

Bidar, Feb 12: Police fired in the air to quell a mob for pelting stones at them when they objected to animal sacrifice during a festival at Devnachada village in this district of Karnataka.

Police said lobbing tear-gas shells and lathicharge failed to stop a large number of villagers from attacking the police force. Additional forces were rushed to the village and the situation was brought under control.
