Haryana to reward women for info on female foeticide
Rohtak, Feb 12 (UNI) Haryana government has decided to reward those women who would report to the authorities about any incident of female foeticide.
This was stated by Haryana Health Minister Kartar Devi here today while speaking at the function organised to mark the termination of an awareness march organised by Arya Samaj leader Swami Aryavesh against female foeticide, dowry system and drugs.
While expressing the resolve of the government to effectively curb the menace of female foeticide, she made it clear that those found indulging in female foeticide would be dealt with sternly.
She described the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) as a reliable functionary of the Health Department concerning the issue of female foeticide and said that all ANMs had been directed to promptly report the incidents of female foeticide, whenever they come to know, to higher authorities.
She claimed that Haryana was the first state where five cases of convictions under Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques Act had been recorded.
