Decision to instal Bhagat Singh's statue in Parliament hailed

Chandigarh, Feb 11 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal today congratulated Lok Sabha Speaker Som Nath Chatterjee for his decision to institute the statue of Shahid-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh in the Parliament.

"It is a matter of great honour and satisfaction for the people of Punjab that one of their sons is the most honoured and admired martyr in the struggle for freedom of the country", he said in a statement issued here.

Mr Badal said said it will be honour and duty of the Government and people of Punjab to get sculpted the statute of the Shahid-e-Azam and donate it to the nation for installation in the Lok Sabha.

The current year is the birth centenary of the Shahid-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh. In this background the tabloid of the Punjab Government for the Republic Day Celebration at New Delhi was also depicting the significance of the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru.
