Pioneer of TV broadcasting in India, Sadhan Mullick passes away
New Delhi, Feb 10 (UNI) Sadhan Mullick, former director of Delhi Doordarshan and a part of the team which introduced Doordarshan in the country, passed away after a brief illness here last night.
He was 86 and is survived by two daughters. Mullick will be cremated at 1730 hrs at the Lodhi Road crematorium.
Mullick was one of the pioneers who introduced TV broadcasting in India in 1959. Later, he served as the director of Delhi Doordarshan and Dean at the Film and TV Institute, Pune. He was a strong advocate of public service broadcasting.
He was honoured by Jan Prasar for his lifetime contribution to Indian broadcasting at a special function held at New Delhi's India International Centre(IIC) on September 12, 2007.
Last year Mullick had a paralytic attack and was undergoing treatment in New Delhi.
His family members said Mullick was moving around despite his illness. Few days ago he had a pneumonitis attack following which his condition worsened.
