Haryana to spend Rs 1196 cr on roads, bridges

Chandigarh, Feb 10 (UNI) The Haryana government has earmarked a sum of Rs 1196 crore for the repair, construction and widening of roads and bridges during the current financial year.

PWD (B&R) Minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav today said that special thrust was being given to promote the infrastructure in the state and efforts were on to provide better artaries for the commuters.

He said that the Rajiv Gandhi Bridges and Roads Infrastructure Development Programme costing Rs 3000 crore had been launched in the state under which infrastructure of roads and bridges would be provided in three phases upto 2010.

During last 34 months, a sum of Rs 2398 crore had already been incurred on improving, strengthening and construction of roads and bridges in the state.

He said that six-lane Badarpur Flyover had been sanctioned by the National Highway Authority of India and the work on the same would be started by August.
