Defeat due to non-performance just a 'belief', says Stokes
Una, Feb 10 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Vidya Stokes today said the common belief that the Congress rout was because of non-performance of its government was not entirely true.
The belief has gained ground as majority of the Congress ministers had lost the recently concluded assembly elections, but the previous state government had been sensitive to the problems of the masses and had ushered in lot of development, Ms stokes told reporters here.
Ms Stokes said a meeting of the state Congress party to introspect the reasons for its defeat was scheduled to be held on February 22.
Asked whether it was the government or the Congress party that should be blamed for its defeat, she said while in power, the party organisation has a very limited role to play in the functioning of the government.
The Chief Minister was the one in command and was the supreme authority in taking decisions, she added.
