Jammu, Feb 9: The ongoing agitation launched by the students of Indira Gandhi Government Dental College was suspended last evening after receiving assurances by the Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Mangat Ram Sharma here.

The strike was suspended for two weeks while Mr Mangat Ram Sharma assured the parents of the students, who called upon the Minister, that State Government would take up the issue with the Union Health Ministry for recognition of the previous three batches by the Dental Council of India (DCI).

The agitating students, in a meeting, last evening suspended their strike and said that authorities should not consider the matter as closed.

''The authorities should initiate appropriate steps as early as possible and if they failed to do so, we will continue with our agitation of demanding recognition,'' the students alleged.
